About Us
IATEFL is a membership organisation which provides support and networking opportunities for students and professionals of EFL around the world.
BESIG is one of the IATEFL Special Interest Groups.
With over 400 members from all over the world, we are one of the largest professional bodies that represents the interests and serves the needs of the international business English teaching community.
IATEFL BESIG brings together business English teachers, teacher trainers, materials writers, and others interested in the teaching of English for business-related purposes.
Our mission is to link, develop and support business English language teaching professionals worldwide.
We do this by:
Forging relationships with business and educational organisations to keep up-to-date with business learners’ needs and the teaching resources to meet these needs
Partnering with business teachers’ associations around the world to share best practices
Raising members’ awareness of global issues in a business context.

Recognition
The Fair List is an annual award that celebrates excellence of gender balance in plenary speakers, presenters and speaker panels at ELT events, in the UK. They believe that better gender balance at UK ELT events ensures wider coverage of relevant topics and a more balanced perspective on the issues affecting both women and men in their professional lives.
IATEFL BESIG has been a Fair List winner for our PCEs and Online events at the IATEFL Annual Conferences in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

"EVE" stands for Equal Voices in ELT. It is an initiative created to recognise both gender and highly proficient speaker parity in keynote and plenary line-ups for ELT conferences and events worldwide. Events can be face-to-face or online.
IATEFL BESIG has received an award from EVE for gender balance for our 33rd and 34th Annual Conference events.
